Ancus Marcius After an interrex Ancus Marcius was elected king. He is credited with adopting moral scruples in regard to the waging of war and the correct ritual for a formal declaration of war. Ancus took the Latin town of Politorium and transferred its population to Rome. Ancus reigned twenty-four years.
